This course is perfect for anyone who is seriously interested in gaining a good working knowledge of feng shui, either to enhance their own homes or to use as a foundational experience and knowledge in feng shui — or use it like I did for your own launch pad for a career in feng shui.
Now you can learn feng shui for fun or profit.
This Feng Shui Master Consultant Class provides:
1. A carefully designed, high-quality privately-taught feng shui experience
2. Increased focus and clarity of feng shui via this one-on-one intensive course
3. An intense yet supportive classroom experience
4. Total immersion in feng shui ideas, concepts, and foundation
5. Certification as a Master Feng Shui Consultant
The Red Lotus Master Consultant Course will be held November 10-14, 2010 in exciting Austin, Texas at a luxury hotel property where you will enjoy beautiful surroundings in the class and in your room that is convenient to the airport.
The Red Lotus Master Consultant Course can help you move ahead in your life as a Master Consultant and give you the confidence to practice feng shui competently and be paid like the professional you are.
This is not a feng shui class that rehashes 5 Element Theory.
It is a class on what a Master Feng Shui Consultant needs to know — like how to write a report, how to present yourself to clients that gives them (and you) confidence in your work, what to charge and how to get paid. And, I’ll give you tools and tips to help you make complicated feng shui easier and faster to practice.
Are you working as a consultant already and barely making ends meet?
If you’re tired of working yourself to the bone and not making anything for it, I’ll show you how to be a consultant who works with integrity and eats, too! You’ll get real-world, down to earth, and, yes, frank and candid, talk about what being a consultant is all about.
I’ll share with you how I started my own business , what I did in the beginning, and how my little feng shui Ezine began with only 22 subscribers (mostly family and friends!). But now, my business is growing and I want to help you help others as a feng shui consultant — and have a life too.

The Five Elements — How to diagnose and remedy common life problems
April 15, 2010 by Kathryn Weber
Filed under Feng Shui Basics, Health, Love, Remedies
The five elements are the five building blocks of feng shui. The elements are made up of water, wood, fire, earth, and metal. If your home or office feels “off” or uncomfortable, it might be out of balance. Just taking a quick look around your home or office will help you to diagnose if there is too much or too little of an element.
In a perfect feng shui world, you’ll find all five elements present in a room. This helps to keep the room feeling comfortable, harmonious and balanced – and thus making you more productive, effective, and successful.
The checklist below has some of the most common problems associated with missing or excess elements. The list will help you determine what element is out of balance and the Element List will help you balance the energies in your home correctly.
Don’t forget to look at all important rooms, such as your living room, bedroom, office, and even your garden to make sure your surroundings are in good feng shui shape.
Common Problems
__Lethargy, depression, excess weight – too little fire or too much water
__Instability, clouded thinking, hyperactivity, unhappy relationships – too little earth
__Lack of opportunity, low career growth, feeling spiritually disconnected – too little water
__Poor health, lack of growth, low vitality, family disharmony – too little wood
__Nervous exhaustion, scattered thinking, busy for busy sake, disorganized – too much metal
__Impulsiveness, anger, frustration, anxiety – too much fire
__Lack of creativity, initiative, ability to analyze – too little metal
__No fun, little enjoyment or zest for life – too little fire
__Financial problems, too many bills, too little income – too little water and/or wood
__Stuck or smothering relationships, boredom, overly serious – too little earth
Element List
_____Water Element. The water element relates to business, career, and opportunities. It also has an effect on emotions, feelings and intuition. When the water element is correctly placed, career and business function more smoothly and there is progression in the climb up the corporate ladder. Water can also help create insights, make you feel inspired and spiritually connected and refreshed.
When there is too much water, there is depression, lethargy, weight gain, and isolation. Look for dark colors, blues, black, purple and wave shapes. When there’s not enough water, add water using color or shape. You can also add water figures such as shells or figurines of fish or a real aquarium.
_____Wood Element. The wood element relates to health, growth, and advancement. It is the element that relates to the family, the feet and the oldest son. When wood is correctly placed, the family is happy, growing and health is vibrant. Too much wood can cause arguments and fiery tempers.
When wood is lacking there is little expansion, life feels stalled, stuck. The shape is rectangular, similar to the tall shape of a tree trunk. To add wood energy, use brown and green colors and rectangular shapes. Dried flowers, bonsai trees and cactus are negative wood symbols and should not be used in the house.
____ Fire Element. The element of fire is the one element that is not naturally present in the earth and has to be created. It is powerful and spreads rapidly. It can keep you warm or burn down the house. Fire represents sociability, the family name, good friends, happiness and its presence indicates the success that comes with fame or public recognition.
Too much fire energy can create a home that is overly-stimulated, nerves frayed, anger and irritability rampant, not enough rest. Too little fire creates remote feelings and a lack of ambition or vision, low self-esteem, little happiness or zest for life.
The fire element is symbolized by triangle shapes, lamps, and candles. It’s also associated with the color red. Add red colors or triangle shapes or more lighting to brighten up your home and give it a punch of color and energy! Do be careful with the fire element. Too much of it can overwhelm your space.
_____Earth Element. The earth element is an element of caring, stability and calm reserve. When earth is lacking there is a lack of focus and mental clarity. The shape is square. Earth elements help make relationships strong and enduring. Too much earth can create a home that is sluggish and ineffectual. This can manifest with low motivation and apathy.
The earth element is symbolized by square shapes, stones, ceramic and crystal elements. It’s associated with the color of ochre, beige, tan, and yellow. To boost the earth element add stone or earth-related objects and golden colors. To reduce the earth element in your home add metal objects as these exhaust the earth energy.
_____Metal Element. The metal element is an element of creativity and represents the manifestation of inward flowing movement, which includes wealth. Adding metallic objects such as Chinese coins, metallic bowls and windchimes brings more metal energy to a home. Arching, oval and round shapes are associated with the metal element. Metal energy helps bring logic, precise thinking and ability to think analytically. Ceiling fans, white colors, televisions, stereos and computers are associated with metal energy.
Too much metal can cause too much movement, speaking before thinking, and being hasty. Too little metal brings mental dullness and inability to manifest because metal is a conductor and its presence in a home helps manifest quick thought, decisiveness, and movement. When you want to activate the metal element choose gold, silver, white or gray colors. If metal is too prominent, add water colors of blue and black or water elements such as fish or fountains.

Clutter’s Effects on Your Life — How clutter affects you and what to do about it
April 2, 2010 by Kathryn Weber
Creating a healthy, energetic home or office relies on diligence. It’s much easier to let your home or office become cluttered and messy than it is to keep on top of papers, throw out old magazines, or otherwise dispose of the things that you no longer need, want, or use.
For that reason many people don’t bother with this kind of routine maintenance. And that’s how Spring Cleaning should be looked at: maintenance for your home.
Now, I’m not going to tell you what to do for your personal Spring Cleaning because only you know if you are harboring clothes in your closet from 30 years ago, or if your addiction to paper has gotten out of hand. YOU ARE THE EXPERT at your own mess. Give yourself permission to clean it up and let go of it.
Let’s go over some basics about dirty, cluttered homes versus clean and organized homes…
What does a dirty, cluttered home do to you?
It makes you feel tired. A cluttered home is a visual and psychic drain. All that stuff makes you fatigued. One of the most fatigued people I know simply can NOT throw anything away. Antiques are her specialty. Everything is a “collectible.” But that does not mean SHE has to collect it. This client is slowly letting go of her addiction to acquiring and is finding her energy is rebounding.
It makes you feel hopeless. Simply put, too much stuff is overwhelming and we can’t handle it all, so we throw our psychological hands in the air in frustration. This leads to that hopeless, it’s-all-inevitable feeling.
It makes you poor. Yep, that’s right: POOR. Ever notice those homes of the mega-wealthy? They’re a study in restraint. You notice their homes because stuff isn’t everywhere.
Time and time again, I notice the environments of people who are struggling to make ends meet, and I notice that they have an overwhelmingly HUGE baseball cap collection, some kind of collectible that’s taken over the house, or too many pets. Get rid of all but the most meaningful things. You can do it.
How does clutter hurt you? It makes you feel out of control in your life. That’s because the stuff is in control and you’re not. Put yourself in the driver’s seat of your life and take control of all THAT STUFF by donating it, throwing it away, or organizing it — and get everyone in your home in on the act.
What does a clean, organized home do for you?
It gives you a sense of calm. Imagine walking in to a room where the tops are cleared off and there are no papers and mess scattered about. How does it make you feel? That’s the AAAHHHH feeling you get when you walk into a hotel room…it’s neat and you can see the room and not all the stuff.
It gives you back your health. Dirty, cluttered houses can make you fatigued, constipated, have back pain, and congested. Not just because there’s stuff everywhere, but because there is dust on all that stuff — and dust is nothing but negative energy. Unclog your home and your health might be better to boot!
It gives you wealth. Think about the times when you were doing well financially… As money worries piled up, did you ever make the correlation that so has all the stuff around you? Get rid of it and you will see financial flow again.
It puts you in control of your life. Suddenly, order appears in the Universe, you can find things, the feeling of being overwhelmed isn’t omnipresent and you look forward to things; life is sweet again.
What do you want from life? Check the list below for ideas on where clutter is stopping the flow in your life.
LOVE — Clear out the SOUTHWEST corner of your home, bedroom, living room, and office. Clutter here can manifest as problems with relationships or can create health problems such as a large stomach, reproductive or elimination system problems or bulging middle.
MONEY – Clear out the SOUTHEAST corner of your home, bedroom, living room, and office. Clutter here can create problems with lack of savings (accumulated wealth) and difficulties in the hips, legs and knees. Start a savings program — no matter how small.
FRIENDS, FAME, RECOGNITION — Clear out the SOUTH corner of your home, bedroom, living room, and office. Clutter here can create problems with friends, social contacts, as well as health problems with vision and heart issues. Brighten and lighten this area up and create open space (air feeds fire!) and watch stress come down and fun rise.
HEALTH, FAMILY GROWTH — Clear out the EAST corner of your home, bedroom, living room, and office. Problems here result in difficulties with family members, tension in the house, problems with skin, lungs, and feet. Beautify with water images to feed the wood energy of this sector and improve health and family relationships.
CAREER, BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES — Clear out the NORTH corner of your home, bedroom, living room, desk and office. Problems and clutter in this area creates problems with kidneys and ears. Brighten and lighten this area, create space to create flow for the water energy here that brings career and business opportunities.
CHILDREN/BABIES, CREATIVITY, PROJECTS TO FLOURISH — Clear out the WEST corner of your home, bedroom, living room, and office to watch projects come to fruition. Clutter in this area creates problems with children, the mouth and teeth. Add metal to this area to create movement in projects and help children.
EDUCATION, PERSONAL GROWTH, SPIRITUALITY, WRITING — Clear out the NORTHEAST corner of your home, bedroom, living room, and office. Clutter in this area keeps you from thinking clearly, making good decisions and keeps you feeling anxious and uncertain about your life. It also affects your hands. Keeps hands in good condition with lotions, manicures and watch how you think more clearly.
TRAVEL, MENTORS, HELPFUL PEOPLE — Clear out the NORTHWEST corner of your home, bedroom, living room, and office. Clutter in this area creates problems with men, the man of the house, and with finding people to help you and assist you in life. Excess mess can also create problems with the head, such as high blood pressure and headaches. Open up this space and the world opens up for you!
Books that can help you declutter AND have good feng shui
Clear Your Clutter with Feng Shui by Karen Kingston. EXCELLENT book every since feng shui enthusiast should own. This is my hands-down favorite.
Lillian Too’s 168 Ways to Declutter Your Home by Lillian Too. The guru of feng shui (and my personal teacher) explains the connection of clutter and feng shui — including mental and spiritual clutter.
Stop Clutter from Stealing Your Life by Mike Nelson. Nelson talks about the mental health side of clutter and how to get out from under the control of clutter.

Making Feng Shui Personal — Keeping Yourself Fresh and Energized
January 29, 2010 by Kathryn Weber
Filed under Feng Shui Basics, General
Feng shui is often called the Chinese Art of Placement. But you can use feng shui in so many ways beyond how you arrange your home. Feng shui can also be very personal — you can apply it to the way you dress, look, and act.
Let’s talk about a few of the ways you apply feng shui to yourself to stay fresh and energized….
Your signature says it all.
My mentor and feng shui master, Lillian Too, often recommended people make changes to their signatures to give them more influence. Some signatures have letters that curl backwards — this means lackluster growth and success.
Some tilt left — this causes the same problem. Even the graphic above shows writing that tilts to the right and looks like it’s going forward. Look at your signature and make sure yours says “affluence” and that it tilts right and up — not left and backwards.
A client of mine had a tough time being promoted even though his income kept going up; he simply never got the nod. I told him his signature tilted backwards — as though he turned his back on others or looked backwards. In fact, all his writing has a tendency to lean left. He changed his signature and the money flowed into his life — and he leap-frogged at his job being promoted up two levels! Is your signature squeezed and tight? Money will be tight too. Get your signature flowing and watch the money flow with it!
What does your email really say?
This may sound strange but your email address conveys ideas about you to the people who read it. What we call ourselves can influence the way we are treated by others. If you have a negative email address or something very difficult, it could have an effect. What does your email address say about you? Also, use proper punctuation even in an email. Some emails are written using the lowercase “i” instead of “I.” This diminishes you. Don’t do it.
Like hair color commercial says, “You’re worth it.”
Do you do little things for yourself that make you feel pampered? I set up a tea tray by my office with a hot water kettle on a pretty tray with apothecary jars full of elegant teas and some of my favorite ginger cookies (Biscoff and Anna’s Ginger Thins are my fave!). Now when I want a break from the computer, I only step to the next room instead of trekking downstairs and I feel luxurious with my herbal tea. It’s also some self care that makes me feel good.
Do your best to beautify yourself.
Everyone feels better when they look better. Get to a new stylist, or a make-up counter at a department store. Freshen up your image and your look. I got Invisalign braces last month and I’m almost 50, but who cares? I wanted a straighter smile so that when I ring in the New Year in 11 short months, I’ll do it with a straight, white smile. We all get into ruts, just have the good sense to get out of it and make some improvements to keep your energy flowing and active and help you feel great!
What makes you feel inspired?
We all need something that lifts our sights. I like to find my inspiration at my desk because I spend a lot of time on the computer. Last year, I posted a picture of Hong Kong on my computer and guess where I went? That’s right, Hong Kong. This year, I put a new photo on my computer’s wallpaper. It’s a gorgeous waterfall because I want a lot of water this year — and remember water is wealth in feng shui! Find a picture for your wallpaper on your computer or a scene to hang on a wall where it can inspire you!
Open your eyes to your habits of speech, your writing, your email name, even your resistance to change and openness to receive. This is part of applying feng shui to yourself and to your life, to keeping energy positive and moving and flowing for yourself. Sometimes the change to your environment isn’t as important as the changes your make to yourself.

The Feng Shui Outlook 2010
January 28, 2010 by Kathryn Weber
Filed under Annual Feng Shui, Feng Shui Basics
Last year was a wild ride, and we’ve got a few surprises to contend with in the coming year. Yes, there are some difficulties ahead. But some of those big surprises are…. good! Indeed, there are opportunities to get ahead in 2010.
The questions become:
–Will you work with the energy of the year?
–Are you ready to stop fighting the flow and rowing upstream?
–Did you know that by following the energy patterns, you can ride the tides like a nimble kayaker navigates the rushing whitewater with deft skill?
Each year presents opportunities with the dominant energies of the year — for both good and bad.
Like the ocean rip tides that can suck a swimmer out to deeper water, it’s the swimmer who fights the tide that drowns — and it’s the survivor who swims with the tide, using the tide’s own energy to help move him or her closer to shore.
It’s like that from year to year. You can either fight the tide — or you can trust the tide, and let it carry you and propel you even further than swimming alone.
So what do you need to know to get ahead in 2010?
The very best energy for 2010 is found in the center, west, east, north, and northwest. That’s the good news! We have five sectors with helpful energy. The difficult energy is found in the southwest, south, northeast and southeast.
Let’s talk about the energies…
Networking through civic groups is another benefit of the 4 Sexy Star moving to the career sector. Anything that gets your name out in front of others is the best way to promote your availability to do the job. Write, network, and get your name out to help you move ahead in your career this year. Write, promote, publicize. That’s the key to getting ahead this year.
The one cautionary note this year with regard to career is that it’s possible there will be infidelities at work – like there always is – but to an even higher degree in the coming year. Keep alert for these dalliances as they can cause scandal – and possible job loss – at work.
Family Outlook
The family will benefit by the addition of the heavenly benefactor energy in the east sector of health and family. Men and helpful people can be called on to assist your family. The family can also benefit by traveling together internationally as these trips will promise to be both helpful and unifying for the family.
The southeast wealth sector can see more arguments about money and hurtful words exchanged. Adding water to this sector will help to dissolve the harsh energy. Theft is another concern. Lost wallets, break-ins, and Internet or credit card theft is a heightened worry in the year ahead. Keep careful watch over all expenses and your accounts in the coming year.
The south sector of fame and recognition and social status may see the break-up of old friendships as bickering and squabbling could occur this year. Watch associations with others for possible legal entanglements as the Jade 3 star visits the south sector creating legal wrangling and potential lawsuits, slander, or hurtful gossip. This would be the year to pull in as a family and limit outside interactions as much as possible to save your family’s name and reputation.
In the northeast sector, the Black 2 illness star makes its appearance. This can cause children to lose more days away from school due to sickness and face school hardships. Children also figure into the west 1 star this year and they may suffer more from ear aches and bladder or kidney problems. Watch children’s health with extra care and diligence.
Keep your home and office chi fresh and alive
Every year you buy new clothes. It’s important to keep your clothing new to look fresh and updated. It makes you feel good too! The same is true with feng shui and that’s why it’s the smart person who makes the simple, easy changes that keep your home and office chi fresh and alive from year to year.
Perhaps most importantly, it’s the clever person who makes certain that negative energies are addressed first and foremost – much like the driver who gets into the car and fastens his seat belt. We know we’re very unlikely to be in a car crash, yet the wise person takes steps to protect him or herself and his or her family before driving, secure in the knowledge that if a crash does occur, you will be protected. This is the same with feng shui.
Protection is a must
Feng shui’s first priority is always protection first. That’s why addressing problems and afflictions each year helps you get the most out of the year – because you can proceed knowing that you’ve handled problems and if they do occur, they’ll be easier to handle.
Once that’s done, then you can proceed to making enhancements feeling confident and secure that the changes you make will be more effective because you’ve already handled the afflictions!
Themes for the Year of the Tiger
As I talked about earlier, this is the year to pull in as a family, take care of each other, be careful in cars and in sports, and watch your family name. Avoid dalliances at work – and instead – put that romance energy to work with your partner or spouse where you will reap the real rewards of the Sexy Star!
Plan ahead…now
And in 2010, be thinking about where you want to head in the next few years and begin making a plan of the steps to get there.
Start planning for growth now, because although it was a rough year in 2008 and 2009, we will start to see some signs of recovery and you want to be there ready to take advantage of it in the year ahead!
And true to the idea of planting seeds, this is a great year to do more landscaping and adding water to your home landscape. Growth from making future plans and actually planting and adding water will help you to reap rewards and in the years that follow.
I’ve got all the details you need to get your year underway so that its healthy, happy, productive, and prosperous in the 2010 Red Lotus Letter Success Pack.

Creating Wealth Chi – Energizing your home with wealth symbols
December 8, 2009 by Kathryn Weber
Our homes, like our dreams, speak in symbols. The art, the symbols, shapes, and colors we surround ourselves with at home tells a story of our lives. Mine speaks to a love of travel and does so in the artwork that I’ve collected from around the world. It’s important that we place objects and items in our house that inspire and motivate us.
We need items that make us feel good and help us move forward in life and lift up our energy. Clutter has way of pressing down that energy. When we fill our homes with excess stuff we have to ask ourselves what is it we are avoiding.
Open space can be intimidating and clutter fills space. Keeping excess stuff, especially collections, puts distance between us and our feelings or keeps us from intimate relationships because things can quickly and rapidly take the place of people — and even keep us from ourselves. In the process of removing the excess stuff in your life, you don’t just find space, you’ll find yourself.
It’s good feng shui to use auspicious symbols and enhancers around your home or office. This is a great way to lift the energy of your home and your life. But you must have the space for it first. If you place a beautiful symbol in your home in the midst of clutter and excess, you will miss the effect and the ability of the symbol to work its magic for you.
As I write this, I am sitting on the balcony of my home. What strikes me is that the garden beyond my balcony is a mix of open spaces and gardens, with broad lawns and curving gardens that allow energy to gather and flow. The waterfall flows and water gurgles in the pool.
It’s because of the open, neat, and restrained landscape that the cascading water of the pool becomes more prominent. When you clear the excess from your home, any symbols and beautiful elements you place there will become not only more noticeable but more potent in your life.
Add symbols for wealth and prosperity around your home and garden. When your whole space is energized, it becomes magnetic to wealth.
Use these 6 ideas for your home
1. Add a water source
Water is vital for attracting and stimulating wealth. Even a simple urn with a pump can bring beautiful, positive “sheng chi” — the kind of chi that attracts prosperity to a home. (Psst…You can see two of my water enhancers in my blog.)
2. Look for symbols to add to your entrance
My own front door has a mat that evokes the mystic knot — a symbol of enduring love, wealth and abundant opportunities. This simple mat was bought at Lowe’s for $10 — but the opportunities it’s brought have been worth much, much more!
3. Use Chinese coins.
These are the round coins with the square hole in the middle and Chinese script on one side. Place these coins in your business or money files, tape them to a phone and carry them in your purse or wallet. Place an auspicious number of coins under your mattress to stimulate wealth and let you sleep on top of wealth energy! Use your imagination to use these, just make sure you put the Chinese script side up…not the underside… and tie them with red ribbon to “activate” them.
4. Place water symbols prominently
Water equals wealth. You’ve heard me say that over and over. Place pictures of water, ships, and fish in important areas. Avoid placing any water elements in bedrooms, though. Pictures of sailing ships at the entrance to your office or home (with the ships appearing to sail into the room) are especially good harbingers of good career and money news!
5. Dress up
Dressing in a more elegant and refined way gets you better treatment at stores, airports, hotels, restaurants — and treated like a person of prominence. Start being — and looking — like what you aspire to! Here’s the great thing — you just have to look the part. You don’t have to spend a wad on designer duds. As long as your look says “prosperous” that’s all that matters.
6. Tap the phoenix
The phoenix bird brings wonderful opportunities as it is the “God of the Four Winds.” The phoenix will magnify your potential for success and draw others to you who can see your magnificence — and that attracts prosperity. Place the phoenix or other beautiful bird (rooster, peacock) on the south corner of your desk or in your office or living room, or place a small boulder out the front of your house to resemble a footstool — this taps the phoenix celestial guardian of your home and raises your good name and brings more opportunities to you.

Your Wish is Granted! How to Use Feng Shui Wish-Fulfilling Gems to Make Your Wishes Come True
December 4, 2009 by Kathryn Weber
Filed under Featured, Feng Shui Basics, General
From the earliest fairytales of genies and fairy godmothers, we all have wishes that we would love to see magically happen. Luckily in feng shui there is a wonderful technique for activating the energies associated with all of the usual aspirations that everyone wants: love, wealth, health, happiness, good fortune. It involves using gems and crystals and when used correctly, can almost magically bring about anything you desire.
Gems and crystals are powerful symbols of our earthly desires and they are powerful activators. Gems are regarded as earth’s most beautiful and precious energy represented in clear, beautiful, sparkling stones. These stones are widely regarded as storehouses of this beautiful earth energy – and potent objects to ground your deepest desires and help them come to fruition.
Don’t believe me? Think about one of the most common gem activators. This one is an activator of love and commitment. It’s called an engagement ring. The size, quality, and beauty of stone is often used to transmit the intent and desire of the man to make his intentions known to a woman, which in this case, is marriage.
But stones and crystals can be used to manifest more than just marriage. Used in your life, gems bring precious earth energy to your goals and dearest wishes!
I recommend you find one beautiful stone and make a single wish with great focus and intention. Keep your focus on this intention until you see it come to fruition. Also, be sure you give plenty of attention to your gem and don’t disregard your crystals.
To get the best results, place your wish fulfilling gem where you see it and activate it regularly, such as at your bedside table, your desk (my favorite), or your living room. When placed here, you can put your gems under a light to help activate them. You can even put it in a window where the sunlight will hit your gem and activate it. It’s especially helpful to raise the gem up so that the light can penetrate and activate the entire crystal.
As wonderfully as these magic activators work, you must be sure to do your part too. If you’re interested in creating opportunities for love, get out there and circulate. If you want to lose weight, be sure to modify your eating and exercise more.
So now that you have learned this wonderful – and potent – feng shui trip, it’s your turn to find a gem and activate any and all of your wishes!
Select one special POWER gem.
When you have a dear desire, such as to get married or attract love, select a large faux diamond and place it next to your bed or on your desk – anywhere you’ll see it and can activate it with light. Treat it special and keep it clean. Focus on your desire to attract your perfect mate. You can do this with any special wish or desire you have. If it’s a work-related wish you have, keep your gem at work where you see it often.
Surround your Chinese astrology sign with gems.
Looking to enhance yourself or members of your family? Create a gem bowl with a variety of gems. Place small figures of each family member’s astrology animal sign in the bowl to use as an enhancer. You or your family will find yourself receiving more opportunities and exciting new ventures coming to you as a result. My husband and I are both tigers and I have a heart-shaped glass bowl of faux diamonds with two tigers in it (picture above). We continue to move ahead in life and have exciting opportunities and adventures — so I can personally attest to this!
See your ship come in with gems.
Sailing ships have long been activators of arriving wealth. Take that one step further by loading your ship figurine with crystals or faux diamonds. Crystals placed on the body of a ship figure are a great way to represent your wealth sailing into your life. Make sure ships seem to be sailing into the house, office, or room.
Choose gem colors by your wish.
Green crystals will bring health and family luck, red crystals bring fame and recognition for your desire (perfect for an ambitious person!), blue crystals can be used for business opportunities and career advancement (and the money that comes with it), white crystals bring luck with children, creativity, and helpful people and mentors, yellow, pink and amber bring opportunities for education, love, and romance. Pink is especially powerful for bringing you attention for love.
Pick your gems with care.
Always choose clear, sparkling and beautiful gems that appeal to you. Glass, crystal, and natural gems are all perfectly acceptable activators of your wishes. Make sure the gems are not cloudy or unappealing to you in any way. Keep them clean and dust-free.
Put your gems to work.
Have a certain business you’re looking to attract? Place the name of that business or a picture of the person associated with the business or a business card on top of your diamond. If you want a commitment from a reluctant suitor, place a picture of your beloved on top of the diamond. A certain clothing size is what you’re after? Use a green colored gem and place a picture of your slimmer self on the gemstone.

Bedroom Do’s and Don’ts for Teens
November 24, 2009 by Kathryn Weber
Feng shui is a wonderful way to create improvements in your life simply by aligning the items in your bedroom. These can include your bed, your desk or computer, even your stereo.
Properly aligned, you can expect to see improvements in your relationships, your studies, and your health. You might even find a new love as a result! Use these tips to get your room in harmony with your life.
Important Basic Feng Shui Bedroom Do’s and Don’ts
DO use a compass
Stand in the middle of the room and hold the compass level and waist-high. Then make a diagram of your room, creating nine squares. Put the correct direction on each square. Now you are ready to move the items according to compass or your personal auspicious directions. (A compass only costs about $2-$5 at Wal-Mart or Target.)
Give yourself a mini-space clearing
–If you decide to use feng shui in your room, then clear out all unnecessary items and junk from your drawers, closet, and under the bed.
–Clean thoroughly by vacuuming, dusting and washing windows, ceiling fans, etc.
–Now you’re ready to feng shui your room, but follow the DON’Ts below:
DON’T
Have open book shelves opposite your bed or behind you as you study. These act like knives and will encourage people “talking behind your back.”
Have water or pictures of water (this aggravates asthma, allergies, and can encourage respiratory or sinus problems). So take out the Zen fountain or fish tank.
Have plants in the bedroom. Plants use up body energy in your bedroom.
BED DOs and DON’Ts
DO make sure it has the widest view of the room and entryway so you can see the door easily
DO try to sleep with the top of your head pointing in one of your personal feng shui directions (see below)
DO have a solid wall behind it (or at least curtains) vs. a window
DO make sure you cannot see a bathroom, toilet, or stairs from the bed
DON’T have the bed against a shared wall of a bathroom or toilet
DON’T have a mirror or television that reflects the bed
DON’T have your feet point out the door from your bed
Using personal feng shui: Having your head pointed in one of your auspicious directions (AD) is one of the best ways to tap good luck. Click here to calculate your personal feng shui directions. This link will tell you what directions are the best for you. Even if your room is in the Southwest portion of the house and this is not a good direction for you, you can still orient your bed so that your head points in one of your good directions.
DESK DOs and DON’Ts
DO try to place your desk in NE corner of your room
DO always sit where you can see the door and anyone entering the room easily
DO try to face one of your AD
DO keep a bright light turned on here to enhance your education luck
DO hang a lead crystal from the ceiling here, or place rock crystals in this corner of the room and in the NE corner of the desk for better study concentration
DO add a globe to this location to improve test scores and success in school
DRESSER
Place in East corner if wood
Place in West corner if metallic-colored, or if painted white, silver, or gold
Place in North if black or blue
Place in SE if green
Place in South or SW if red, orange, purple
COMPUTER, PHONE, & STEREO
Place phone in the NW corner of room to bring more helpful people into your life.
Keep stereo playing on low volume while you are away to keep energy active in your room and attract helpful people to you.
DECORATIONS, ETC.
Mirrors: Not recommended in the bedroom. If used, make sure you cannot see yourself from the bed.
Lamps: Place one in the south (fame and recognition; a lava lamp is great here!), the NE (educational luck), and the SW (to help you with your sweetie or bring one if you don’t have one already — lava lamps are also great here, too!). The lamps will energize these areas.
Pictures: Make sure are these positive images that make you happy. Violence, dark, or brooding-types of pictures are not suitable for a place of rest and relaxation.
Troubles with mom and dad? Place a happy picture of your family in the East corner of your room to help these relationships become easier and more harmonious.
Looking for a new love? Place a picture of your heart’s desire in the SW to help this relationship — or to encourage a new one relationship, place a picture of your “ideal” person here.
Bulletin boards: Hang these on the south wall of your room. Pin pictures of famous people, letters of recognition, awards, ribbons, or certificates here for more added recognition any kind of accomplishment is perfect for this location.
A light that illuminates this area is especially helpful! Place trophies on a shelf in this location for continued success and recognition. Paint this board red for an extra boost in recognition energy!
Ceiling fans: not recommended because they displace body energy while sleeping; if used, place small red dot on each blade.
Clutter: If you don’t feel well or you’re having troubles in your life, clear your space. Get a box and do a thorough cleaning out. This doesn’t mean you have to throw things away.
Store them in the garage or attic. If after a while you don’t use any of these things, then donate them to charity. Do make note of how you feel once your room is clear.
With a harmonious environment, you are sure to be more comfortable, enjoy yourself more, and do better in life. If, you have used any of these tips and found them helpful, I’d like to know about it! I’m always interested in hearing from teens who have benefited from feng shui! Drop me a note here.

Round — The Shape of Wealth
September 2, 2009 by Kathryn Weber
In feng shui every direction, such as north, south, or northeast has a number, color, element and a shape associated with it. Each shape has a distinct meaning. For instance, the tall, rectangular shape of wood is associated with growth. The shape associated with “big metal” or the northwest is round. This is also the shape of coins – or “change” – and wealth.
The round shape is a shape that is seen as very yang and active. A round ball or coin takes very little effort to get it to roll and keep moving. Try making a block of wood move and it stops dead. But round and circular shapes have movement to them and that’s what makes them yang.
Yet in many homes, the round shape is often missing. Décor elements tend to go square and rectangular versus circular or curving.
But what does that circular shape have to do with wealth?
For one thing, wealth comes from movement and energy. The times we make the most money most often come when we expend the most energy and movement. And think of coins. Their round shape has kept them moving in and out of our purses and pockets for thousands of years now.
The round shape is also associated with “big metal” and big metal makes water in the feng shui five element theory — and water is wealth. Therefore, adding metal to your environment adds more water based on the productive cycle and that means more money for you.
When you’re interested in developing more wealth and increasing prosperity, make sure you incorporate more round shapes and circles in your home environment. The tips below will help you to put more water-producing (read: wealth producing) energy in your home – and your pocketbook!
Use circles in your décor
Sofas, drapes, and carpeting can all be selected with circular shapes and fabric patterns. Select soothing and muted patterns because strong circles and dots can create a restless energy that makes relaxing difficult.
Dot your landscape with circles
Whether you have a round fountain in your garden or circular stepping stones, adding circles to the landscape will generate water energy that will “feed” your garden dragon. Curving shapes also induce a watery feel to the garden which generates more prosperity chi!
Select circular accessories
A wonderful choice for increasing wealth is a metal wealth bowl. Filled with faux jewels or semiprecious stones that “feed” the metal bowl, the wealth bowl will be even more productive at generating watery wealth energy. Round shaped accessories that are metal are best at generating more movement and wealth energy in your home. Round plates on stands are another excellent wealth producing accessory – especially those that are gold or silver-colored.
Choose circular furnishings
Too often furniture is very square, solid, and energy-stopping. To bring more wealth-producing energy to your home, select chairs that are round and curved. But avoid selecting round baby cribs or beds. These are too energetic and will impede your sleep and ability to fully rest.
Round jewelry
You can even add round shapes to yourself. To generate more water and wealth energy, choose jewelry pieces that are round or circular. These are also especially wonderful if they have any kind of stones or jewels on them to activate them.

Feng Shui for Romantic Marriages – Most Frequently Asked Questions
August 21, 2009 by Kathryn Weber
The Red Lotus Letter website attracts more visitors all the time. What are they looking for mostly? Romance, pure and simple. After that it’s money. It’s interesting that romance is the top spot. It shows how important love and romance are to people – even more important than money.
Loving relationships are also working relationships.
That means you’ve got to make an effort. You made an effort to get into your relationship, so why stop because you got married or moved in together? Remember, that love isn’t just a “feeling,” it’s an action. So, take some steps toward building on what you’ve got. Below are some of the most frequent questions I receive about romance. It also includes some new ideas and suggestions for married or committed couples.
QUESTION: Our bedroom décor is OK. Should we really redo our bedroom?
When it comes to food, we eat with our eyes first. Attractive food, with its good blend of colors and textures is appealing, and why that little sprig of parsley does so much. Well, we also make love with our eyes first. It’s why many couples feel like they have to go away to be romantically inspired. Their environment simply isn’t appealing. I think that’s sad. Because if the only time you are getting romantically interested is when you can arrange a trip out of town, then that is way too much time spent apart.
Environment plays a crucial role in romance. I mean, really, how romantic is a bedroom with a treadmill, the dog’s bed, and mismatched curtains? Every couple’s bedroom is important and deserves attention. Make it attractive to both you and your honey.
Have you ever noticed how good spring cleaning makes you feel or how good you feel when you rearrange the furniture? Well, that’s because you are moving energy around that may have been stagnant. A stagnant relationship can also be a sign of a stagnant bedroom. You can actually reinvigorate your relationship just by redecorating or arranging your bedroom.
QUESTION: Our kids have really nice bedrooms, but we haven’t spent the time or money on ours because it seems like the whole family is always in our room. Is there something we can do about this?
Yes. Use your living or family room. You don’t have a bedroom because where you sleep is the family room. I love my kids. Don’t get me wrong. But kids are only renters. Remember, you aren’t there because they are. They are there because YOU are.
This is Rule No. 1: You and your spouse come first. That means your bedroom should also be a KFZ (Kid-Free Zone) or haven away from the kids. That means no toys, no pictures of kids, and certainly no kids in your room (unless you’ve invited them). This is your space.
We often mistakenly believe that you have to let your kids into every nook and cranny of your life and be totally absorbed in them to be good parents. I disagree. We aren’t in the kids rooms. Why should they be in ours? You must draw limits.
I’ll put it even more plainly: kids kill romance. If you don’t want romance, then keep the building blocks, stuffed animals, the How-to-use-the-toilet book with the flushing sounds in your bedroom. If you do want romance, make your space yours and your sweetie’s ALONE. Now, go and get out the decorating books!
QUESTION: What can I do if I suspect my spouse is unhappy with our relationship?
You need to bolster your relationship any way you can. Here are some thoughts:
Add a vase to make relationships happier. Place a jar or vase in the bedroom. It should be ceramic and beautiful to you. Vases can help smooth relationships by collecting good energy.
Display the double happiness sign. This sign can be purchased at Chinese or import stores as a wall hanging or as a frame. If it’s not possible to fine a double happiness symbol, find some items that are red and gold and put those in your bedroom.
Hang a crystal in a window. Rainbows of light cast by the sun hitting a crystal can cleanse a room of negative energy. These are nice to have in rooms throughout the house. To see the beautiful colors dancing on the wall is to infuse the house with positive energy. Hang crystals from a 9 inch long red string or ribbon.
Use crystal power under the bed. Place a smooth, round crystal ball at the foot of the bed to make relationships smoother. You can place one of these under the foot of every bed in the house to make all the relationships happier.
QUESTION: I’m worried that my husband is looking for love outside our relationship. Is there something I can do about?
Yes. I’ve got a couple of ideas. Plus, the last one is good for everyone to help make their marriages stronger and last longer.
Place a conch shell in your bedroom. This shell will help protect you from third-party interference when you are separated.
Check water in the front of the house. Make sure there is no water to the right as you walk out the house. This can lead to an abundance of “admirers” or predatory females.
Repaint if necessary. Peach-colored walls or carpet can lead to infidelity and to unwanted or overly-aggressive admirers. If you’ve got an excess of peach color in the house, I’d head to my DIY center and buy some paint.
Purchase a geode. If you suspect your spouse is wandering or if you just want to make your marriage last, purchase an amethyst geode. These minerals are excellent for infusing energy into a stale relationship. Be sure to select a roundish one that sparkles and that you think is beautiful. On the next rainy day, set the geode out in the rain to be washed. Afterwards, tie the geode with red ribbon and place under the bed. Occasionally, take the geode out from under the bed and set it in the rain to be cleansed.
QUESTION: My wife and I are always arguing about money. Is there something we can do in our bedroom to help our money situation?
Add amethyst power. Pour rice into a beautiful bowl and add amethyst crystals. Place this bowl under the bed. The crystals can be purchased at nature stores in many malls or at gem shows or stores.
QUESTION: Does it really matter which side of the bed we sleep on?
Yes. The woman should sleep on the right side (as you lie in bed), and the man should sleep on the left. You should also try to orient the bed or sleep with your head pointing in your marriage and family direction based on your kua number. You should also sleep using the breadwinner’s personal best directions. Click here for information on personal feng shui.
QUESTION: Do you have any ideas for Valentine’s Day that would be good feng shui?
You bet I do! You can purchase crystals for your bedroom, some of which I have talked about above. You can also purchase a rose quartz crystal to display in your bedroom next to a picture of you and your love. Here are more ideas:
Buy in pairs. Give your love a “pair” of something, whether that is earrings, a pair of monogrammed bathrobes, or a pair of lovebird figurines for your room. If you want to be practical, purchase a pair of lamps for either side of your bed.
Go pink. Pink roses are more sentimental and sweet than red roses. In fact, some think red roses can actually cause a relationship to end. If your love doesn’t like pink, select yellow or lavender roses. Also, be certain that the thorns are removed from the stems.
Buy “love” items. The stores are stocked with heart-shaped items and love tokens for the upcoming Valentine ’s Day. If you want some items to make a love shrine, purchase them now while they are readily available.
Get dim. Purchase a dimmer switch for your bedroom. For $5 you can have all kinds of mood lighting!
Frame your love. Buy a beautiful picture frame and put a picture of the two of you in it. Maybe even select a picture and have it enlarged as an extra nice touch.
Take the time to work on the feng shui of your relationship. It just might reignite your passion!
