Making Feng Shui Personal — Keeping Yourself Fresh and Energized

Feng shui is often called the Chinese Art of Placement. But you can use feng shui in so many ways beyond how you arrange your home. Feng shui can also be very personal — you can apply it to the way you dress, look, and act.

Let’s talk about a few of the ways you apply feng shui to yourself to stay fresh and energized….

Your signature says it all.
My mentor and feng shui master, Lillian Too, often recommended people make changes to their signatures to give them more influence. Some signatures have letters that curl backwards — this means lackluster growth and success.
Some tilt left — this causes the same problem. Even the graphic above shows writing that tilts to the right and looks like it’s going forward. Look at your signature and make sure yours says “affluence” and that it tilts right and up — not left and backwards.

A client of mine had a tough time being promoted even though his income kept going up; he simply never got the nod. I told him his signature tilted backwards — as though he turned his back on others or looked backwards. In fact, all his writing has a tendency to lean left. He changed his signature and the money flowed into his life — and he leap-frogged at his job being promoted up two levels! Is your signature squeezed and tight? Money will be tight too. Get your signature flowing and watch the money flow with it!

What does your email really say?
This may sound strange but your email address conveys ideas about you to the people who read it. What we call ourselves can influence the way we are treated by others. If you have a negative email address or something very difficult, it could have an effect. What does your email address say about you? Also, use proper punctuation even in an email. Some emails are written using the lowercase “i” instead of “I.” This diminishes you. Don’t do it.

Like hair color commercial says, “You’re worth it.”

Do you do little things for yourself that make you feel pampered? I set up a tea tray by my office with a hot water kettle on a pretty tray with apothecary jars full of elegant teas and some of my favorite ginger cookies (Biscoff and Anna’s Ginger Thins are my fave!). Now when I want a break from the computer, I only step to the next room instead of trekking downstairs and I feel luxurious with my herbal tea. It’s also some self care that makes me feel good.

Do your best to beautify yourself.

Everyone feels better when they look better. Get to a new stylist, or a make-up counter at a department store. Freshen up your image and your look. I got Invisalign braces last month and I’m almost 50, but who cares? I wanted a straighter smile so that when I ring in the New Year in 11 short months, I’ll do it with a straight, white smile. We all get into ruts, just have the good sense to get out of it and make some improvements to keep your energy flowing and active and help you feel great!

What makes you feel inspired?

We all need something that lifts our sights. I like to find my inspiration at my desk because I spend a lot of time on the computer. Last year, I posted a picture of Hong Kong on my computer and guess where I went? That’s right, Hong Kong. This year, I put a new photo on my computer’s wallpaper. It’s a gorgeous waterfall because I want a lot of water this year — and remember water is wealth in feng shui! Find a picture for your wallpaper on your computer or a scene to hang on a wall where it can inspire you!

Open your eyes to your habits of speech, your writing, your email name, even your resistance to change and openness to receive. This is part of applying feng shui to yourself and to your life, to keeping energy positive and moving and flowing for yourself. Sometimes the change to your environment isn’t as important as the changes your make to yourself.

The Feng Shui Outlook 2010

Last year was a wild ride, and we’ve got a few surprises to contend with in the coming year. Yes, there are some difficulties ahead. But some of those big surprises are…. good! Indeed, there are opportunities to get ahead in 2010.

The questions become:
–Will you work with the energy of the year?
–Are you ready to stop fighting the flow and rowing upstream?
–Did you know that by following the energy patterns, you can ride the tides like a nimble kayaker navigates the rushing whitewater with deft skill?

Each year presents opportunities with the dominant energies of the year — for both good and bad.

Like the ocean rip tides that can suck a swimmer out to deeper water, it’s the swimmer who fights the tide that drowns — and it’s the survivor who swims with the tide, using the tide’s own energy to help move him or her closer to shore.

It’s like that from year to year. You can either fight the tide — or you can trust the tide, and let it carry you and propel you even further than swimming alone.

So what do you need to know to get ahead in 2010?

The very best energy for 2010 is found in the center, west, east, north, and northwest. That’s the good news! We have five sectors with helpful energy. The difficult energy is found in the southwest, south, northeast and southeast.

Let’s talk about the energies…

Networking through civic groups is another benefit of the 4 Sexy Star moving to the career sector. Anything that gets your name out in front of others is the best way to promote your availability to do the job. Write, network, and get your name out to help you move ahead in your career this year. Write, promote, publicize. That’s the key to getting ahead this year.

The one cautionary note this year with regard to career is that it’s possible there will be infidelities at work – like there always is – but to an even higher degree in the coming year. Keep alert for these dalliances as they can cause scandal – and possible job loss – at work.

Family Outlook
The family will benefit by the addition of the heavenly benefactor energy in the east sector of health and family. Men and helpful people can be called on to assist your family. The family can also benefit by traveling together internationally as these trips will promise to be both helpful and unifying for the family.

The southeast wealth sector can see more arguments about money and hurtful words exchanged. Adding water to this sector will help to dissolve the harsh energy. Theft is another concern. Lost wallets, break-ins, and Internet or credit card theft is a heightened worry in the year ahead. Keep careful watch over all expenses and your accounts in the coming year.

The south sector of fame and recognition and social status may see the break-up of old friendships as bickering and squabbling could occur this year. Watch associations with others for possible legal entanglements as the Jade 3 star visits the south sector creating legal wrangling and potential lawsuits, slander, or hurtful gossip. This would be the year to pull in as a family and limit outside interactions as much as possible to save your family’s name and reputation.

In the northeast sector, the Black 2 illness star makes its appearance. This can cause children to lose more days away from school due to sickness and face school hardships. Children also figure into the west 1 star this year and they may suffer more from ear aches and bladder or kidney problems. Watch children’s health with extra care and diligence.

Keep your home and office chi fresh and alive

Every year you buy new clothes. It’s important to keep your clothing new to look fresh and updated. It makes you feel good too! The same is true with feng shui and that’s why it’s the smart person who makes the simple, easy changes that keep your home and office chi fresh and alive from year to year.

Perhaps most importantly, it’s the clever person who makes certain that negative energies are addressed first and foremost – much like the driver who gets into the car and fastens his seat belt. We know we’re very unlikely to be in a car crash, yet the wise person takes steps to protect him or herself and his or her family before driving, secure in the knowledge that if a crash does occur, you will be protected. This is the same with feng shui.

Protection is a must
Feng shui’s first priority is always protection first. That’s why addressing problems and afflictions each year helps you get the most out of the year – because you can proceed knowing that you’ve handled problems and if they do occur, they’ll be easier to handle.

Once that’s done, then you can proceed to making enhancements feeling confident and secure that the changes you make will be more effective because you’ve already handled the afflictions!

Themes for the Year of the Tiger
As I talked about earlier, this is the year to pull in as a family, take care of each other, be careful in cars and in sports, and watch your family name. Avoid dalliances at work – and instead – put that romance energy to work with your partner or spouse where you will reap the real rewards of the Sexy Star!

Plan ahead…now

And in 2010, be thinking about where you want to head in the next few years and begin making a plan of the steps to get there.

Start planning for growth now, because although it was a rough year in 2008 and 2009, we will start to see some signs of recovery and you want to be there ready to take advantage of it in the year ahead!

And true to the idea of planting seeds, this is a great year to do more landscaping and adding water to your home landscape. Growth from making future plans and actually planting and adding water will help you to reap rewards and in the years that follow.

Round — The Shape of Wealth

In feng shui every direction, such as north, south, or northeast has a number, color, element and a shape associated with it. Each shape has a distinct meaning. For instance, the tall, rectangular shape of wood is associated with growth. The shape associated with “big metal” or the northwest is round. This is also the shape of coins – or “change” – and wealth.

The round shape is a shape that is seen as very yang and active. A round ball or coin takes very little effort to get it to roll and keep moving. Try making a block of wood move and it stops dead. But round and circular shapes have movement to them and that’s what makes them yang.

Yet in many homes, the round shape is often missing. Décor elements tend to go square and rectangular versus circular or curving.

But what does that circular shape have to do with wealth?

For one thing, wealth comes from movement and energy. The times we make the most money most often come when we expend the most energy and movement. And think of coins. Their round shape has kept them moving in and out of our purses and pockets for thousands of years now.

The round shape is also associated with “big metal” and big metal makes water in the feng shui five element theory — and water is wealth. Therefore, adding metal to your environment adds more water based on the productive cycle and that means more money for you.

When you’re interested in developing more wealth and increasing prosperity, make sure you incorporate more round shapes and circles in your home environment. The tips below will help you to put more water-producing (read: wealth producing) energy in your home – and your pocketbook!

Use circles in your décor

Sofas, drapes, and carpeting can all be selected with circular shapes and fabric patterns. Select soothing and muted patterns because strong circles and dots can create a restless energy that makes relaxing difficult.

Dot your landscape with circles

Whether you have a round fountain in your garden or circular stepping stones, adding circles to the landscape will generate water energy that will “feed” your garden dragon. Curving shapes also induce a watery feel to the garden which generates more prosperity chi!

Select circular accessories

A wonderful choice for increasing wealth is a metal wealth bowl. Filled with faux jewels or semiprecious stones that “feed” the metal bowl, the wealth bowl will be even more productive at generating watery wealth energy. Round shaped accessories that are metal are best at generating more movement and wealth energy in your home. Round plates on stands are another excellent wealth producing accessory – especially those that are gold or silver-colored.

Choose circular furnishings

Too often furniture is very square, solid, and energy-stopping. To bring more wealth-producing energy to your home, select chairs that are round and curved. But avoid selecting round baby cribs or beds. These are too energetic and will impede your sleep and ability to fully rest.

Round jewelry

You can even add round shapes to yourself. To generate more water and wealth energy, choose jewelry pieces that are round or circular. These are also especially wonderful if they have any kind of stones or jewels on them to activate them.

The Red Lotus Letter website attracts more visitors all the time. What are they looking for mostly? Romance, pure and simple. After that it’s money. It’s interesting that romance is the top spot. It shows how important love and romance are to people – even more important than money.

Loving relationships are also working relationships.
That means you’ve got to make an effort. You made an effort to get into your relationship, so why stop because you got married or moved in together? Remember, that love isn’t just a “feeling,” it’s an action. So, take some steps toward building on what you’ve got. Below are some of the most frequent questions I receive about romance. It also includes some new ideas and suggestions for married or committed couples.

QUESTION: Our bedroom décor is OK. Should we really redo our bedroom?

When it comes to food, we eat with our eyes first. Attractive food, with its good blend of colors and textures is appealing, and why that little sprig of parsley does so much. Well, we also make love with our eyes first. It’s why many couples feel like they have to go away to be romantically inspired. Their environment simply isn’t appealing. I think that’s sad. Because if the only time you are getting romantically interested is when you can arrange a trip out of town, then that is way too much time spent apart.

Environment plays a crucial role in romance. I mean, really, how romantic is a bedroom with a treadmill, the dog’s bed, and mismatched curtains? Every couple’s bedroom is important and deserves attention. Make it attractive to both you and your honey.

Have you ever noticed how good spring cleaning makes you feel or how good you feel when you rearrange the furniture? Well, that’s because you are moving energy around that may have been stagnant. A stagnant relationship can also be a sign of a stagnant bedroom. You can actually reinvigorate your relationship just by redecorating or arranging your bedroom.

QUESTION: Our kids have really nice bedrooms, but we haven’t spent the time or money on ours because it seems like the whole family is always in our room. Is there something we can do about this?

Yes. Use your living or family room. You don’t have a bedroom because where you sleep is the family room. I love my kids. Don’t get me wrong. But kids are only renters. Remember, you aren’t there because they are. They are there because YOU are.

This is Rule No. 1: You and your spouse come first. That means your bedroom should also be a KFZ (Kid-Free Zone) or haven away from the kids. That means no toys, no pictures of kids, and certainly no kids in your room (unless you’ve invited them). This is your space.

We often mistakenly believe that you have to let your kids into every nook and cranny of your life and be totally absorbed in them to be good parents. I disagree. We aren’t in the kids rooms. Why should they be in ours? You must draw limits.

I’ll put it even more plainly: kids kill romance. If you don’t want romance, then keep the building blocks, stuffed animals, the How-to-use-the-toilet book with the flushing sounds in your bedroom. If you do want romance, make your space yours and your sweetie’s ALONE. Now, go and get out the decorating books!

QUESTION: What can I do if I suspect my spouse is unhappy with our relationship?

You need to bolster your relationship any way you can. Here are some thoughts:

Add a vase to make relationships happier. Place a jar or vase in the bedroom. It should be ceramic and beautiful to you. Vases can help smooth relationships by collecting good energy.

Display the double happiness sign. This sign can be purchased at Chinese or import stores as a wall hanging or as a frame. If it’s not possible to fine a double happiness symbol, find some items that are red and gold and put those in your bedroom.

Hang a crystal in a window. Rainbows of light cast by the sun hitting a crystal can cleanse a room of negative energy. These are nice to have in rooms throughout the house. To see the beautiful colors dancing on the wall is to infuse the house with positive energy. Hang crystals from a 9 inch long red string or ribbon.

Use crystal power under the bed. Place a smooth, round crystal ball at the foot of the bed to make relationships smoother. You can place one of these under the foot of every bed in the house to make all the relationships happier.

QUESTION: I’m worried that my husband is looking for love outside our relationship. Is there something I can do about?

Yes. I’ve got a couple of ideas. Plus, the last one is good for everyone to help make their marriages stronger and last longer.

Place a conch shell in your bedroom. This shell will help protect you from third-party interference when you are separated.

Check water in the front of the house. Make sure there is no water to the right as you walk out the house. This can lead to an abundance of “admirers” or predatory females.

Repaint if necessary. Peach-colored walls or carpet can lead to infidelity and to unwanted or overly-aggressive admirers. If you’ve got an excess of peach color in the house, I’d head to my DIY center and buy some paint.

Purchase a geode. If you suspect your spouse is wandering or if you just want to make your marriage last, purchase an amethyst geode. These minerals are excellent for infusing energy into a stale relationship. Be sure to select a roundish one that sparkles and that you think is beautiful. On the next rainy day, set the geode out in the rain to be washed. Afterwards, tie the geode with red ribbon and place under the bed. Occasionally, take the geode out from under the bed and set it in the rain to be cleansed.

QUESTION: My wife and I are always arguing about money. Is there something we can do in our bedroom to help our money situation?

Add amethyst power. Pour rice into a beautiful bowl and add amethyst crystals. Place this bowl under the bed. The crystals can be purchased at nature stores in many malls or at gem shows or stores.

QUESTION: Does it really matter which side of the bed we sleep on?

Yes. The woman should sleep on the right side (as you lie in bed), and the man should sleep on the left. You should also try to orient the bed or sleep with your head pointing in your marriage and family direction based on your kua number. QUESTION: Do you have any ideas for Valentine’s Day that would be good feng shui?

You bet I do! You can purchase crystals for your bedroom, some of which I have talked about above. You can also purchase a rose quartz crystal to display in your bedroom next to a picture of you and your love. Here are more ideas:

Buy in pairs. Give your love a “pair” of something, whether that is earrings, a pair of monogrammed bathrobes, or a pair of lovebird figurines for your room. If you want to be practical, purchase a pair of lamps for either side of your bed.

Go pink. Pink roses are more sentimental and sweet than red roses. In fact, some think red roses can actually cause a relationship to end. If your love doesn’t like pink, select yellow or lavender roses. Also, be certain that the thorns are removed from the stems.

Buy “love” items. The stores are stocked with heart-shaped items and love tokens for the upcoming Valentine ’s Day. If you want some items to make a love shrine, purchase them now while they are readily available.

Get dim. Purchase a dimmer switch for your bedroom. For $5 you can have all kinds of mood lighting!

Frame your love. Buy a beautiful picture frame and put a picture of the two of you in it. Maybe even select a picture and have it enlarged as an extra nice touch.

Take the time to work on the feng shui of your relationship. It just might reignite your passion!

Feng Shui Break-Ups – Removing Blocks to Successful Living

Relationships, like technology, are becoming more complicated all the time. There are so many factors to consider in relationships today that didn’t come into play in years past. Nowadays, the woman may be the breadwinner and it may be the man who stays at home with the kids. What hasn’t changed, though, is the importance and the need for close, secure relationships.We often use relationships continue to define us.

We seek out that all-perfect-soul-mate connection with that one true love. We also work to make close and unbreakable connections with our children, parents, friends, and siblings. It’s the connections that sustain us during times of trouble and when there are problems. That’s what makes every relationship — from romantic to familial — crucial. They are our lifelines in life’s stormy waters.

But what happens when relationships aren’t so smooth? Or, when unexplainable change begins to occur in relationships? That’s when it is time to look at your environment to see if there is something that could be causing friction in your dealings with those you care about. Fortunately, feng shui has a number of methods for making an environmental diagnosis of problems in relationships.

Check some of these ideas below to see if your relationships might be suffering — or if there is feng shui potential for a break-up. It’s worth looking into because we never want to see our relationships suffer, or worse, be lost altogether.

1. Is someone missing in your home?

In feng shui, the northwest is the sector of the man and the southwest is the sector of the woman. If either sector is missing, it is possible that either the man or the woman is also missing, such as being away at work all the time.

One couple had the northwest corner of the home missing and the husband was always traveling or working overtime. One they moved to a new house, the husband was at home nights and their marriage was saved.

2. Is there a toilet in the man or woman sector?

Having a toilet in either the northwest or southwest corners of your home can create problems in the relationship. Either there will be fatigue or ill health, or the man or woman will be overworked and underappreciated. If this is the case in your home, be sure to boost the southwest or northwest corner of the living room to lift the energy of the person in question.

Then, make certain that the bathrooms in these sectors have been handled appropriately (i.e., a plant in the southwest corner bathroom, or blue colors in the northwest bathroom). This will keep the negative toilet energy from impacting that person.

3. Are there problems with the whole family?

Check the east sector of the house and the east corner of the living room. The east is the sector of family relationships. If, for instance, there is a toilet in the east corner of the house, be sure to place red items in here or paint the room red. Or, you can decorate in white and metal elements. Reds and metal colors exhaust the negative energy of the toilet when it is in the east sector. If there is a fireplace, then this will exhaust the relationships maybe through frequent arguments. If you have one of these, put a picture of water over the fireplace to drown the fire that might be exhausting your family feelings.

4. If children are unhappy look west.

The west sector is the sector of the children. If there are water elements in this area, such as a shower or bathroom, it can cause problems and difficulties with the children. Increase earth elements in the home, such as by placing vases or beautiful stones in the west corner of the living room to boost the children. Likewise, you may also wish to add metal elements as well, such as metal vases or sculpture. If there is a kitchen or a fireplace, again, the water is helpful, but so are earth elements, such as globes, maps, vases, or stones.

5. Your house shape could be the culprit.

Many houses are irregularly shaped and have missing sectors. This can create problems with household members — particularly if the man or woman or children’s sectors are missing. Try to regularize the house and boost the missing sectors of your house by activating those sectors in the living room. For a missing southwest sector (romance, marital happiness, woman), northwest sector (man, breadwinner), or west sector (children, creativity) add a globe. Globes are great “anchors” for the southwest, northwest, and west sectors.

6. Check your heart — or center — sector.

The heart sector is a critical piece of the relationship puzzle in feng shui. Without a strong center sector, health, wealth, and relationships can all suffer. Many homes are built with an open center. This creates a “hole in the heart” of the home, and can cause heartbreak and divorce as well as bankruptcy. Double this if the home has a tree or plants growing in the center sector.

The center sector is an earth sector. Plants, and especially trees, destroy earth and may have played a pivotal role in the break-up of Jennifer Anniston and Brad Pitt. This was also a key element in a home that was designed by one couple. Going with a typical Spanish style home, they had a courtyard in the middle with a large fountain and big trees. This not only created a divorce, it also created bankruptcy. Although beautiful, this house was not worth the heartache it created.

Auspicious Wedding Feng Shui – Choosing the Right Colors for Your Big Day

As soon as a bride announces that she’s engaged, friends ask, “What are your colors?” While many women choose colors based on nostalgia or what will look good on their bridesmaids, selecting color combinations should be taken more seriously.When a bride plans her wedding, she often pays close attention to tradition and the meaning behind every detail. Possibly the first detail that most brides think about our the colors for the wedding, but few think about the meanings of those colors. Considering the importance of the day, doesn’t it make sense to choose colors that are harmonious and beneficial for the couple?

Interestingly, the most harmonious and beneficial pairing of wedding colors comes from the tai chi symbol of yin and yang. This is the color pairing of black and white — the foundation of wedding colors (black tuxedo for the man, white dress for the woman). What is important to know, though, is that black is yin (female) and white is yang (male). This is why, when a man wears a black tux, his male energy is harmonized and balanced with the female color, and when the bride wears white, her female energy is balanced with male energy of the white (yang) color.

Of course, few brides and grooms venture far from the black and white tradition. Where the color choices go awry is in the supporting colors, such as those of the bridesmaids, flowers, reception table cloths, and so on.

Bearing in mind that feng shui is often referred to as a method for creating harmony. Harmony – in feng shui – means that colors, elements, shapes, and numbers are all supportive and beneficial for one another. On such an important day as the uniting of a couple, adding auspicious colors will help give your day a harmonious — and auspicious — start.

COLOR CHOICES CAN CREATE GOOD OR BAD LUCK

Color combinations that create bad luck:
• Greens and metallic colors (white, silver, gray, gold)
• Red and blue
• Black and red
• Green and yellow
• Yellow and blue
• Red and metallic. Metallic colors such as white, silver, gray, or gold metals are especially bad when they’re paired with red.

Color combinations that create good luck:
• A yang color (i.e. red) with its yin version (i.e. pink) are always good, safe choices. Others include: dark blue/light blue, purple/lavender, dark green/light green.
• Red and green (great for Christmas weddings)
• Yellow and red (The perfect feng shui pairing for harmony, good social standing, and wealth)
• Metallic colors (white, silver, gray, gold) with yellow
• Greens with blues are perfect together
• Blues with metal colors (white, silver, gray, gold) are well-suited for each other.

What do the colors mean?

Reds and gold/yellow/beige: Harmony and prosperity, good luck and happiness
Black and white: male and female, harmony
Green and purples (can be lavenders or light purple): Growth, longevity and wealth
Metal colors: Creativity/children
Yellow and white: Heaven and earth
Green and blue: Growth
Red and green: Happy luck and success
Black and green: Wealth and growth and longevity
Especially auspicious colors: gold & purple (great wealth), silver & purple (great wealth), green & purple (great abundance), purple & white, purple & black (career and financial success)

Doorway to Wealth – The Importance of Your Front Door

The front door plays a very special role in feng shui. Often described as the “mouth of chi,” the front door, is the entryway for energy into your home. Many people never use the actual front door, though, so they often ask if this affects their feng shui.

The answer is yes. That’s because the front door is usually at the center of the home and faces the road — a symbol of water — which equates to wealth.

A key feature of the front door is that it normally is designed to face the view of a road, street, or other feature, such as a lake. Sometimes a house has a tremendous view of a valley or view of the city or lake at the back of the house.

In that case, the “facing direction” of a house is where the most “yang” energy exists. In these cases, it would be at the rear of the house because of these terrific views. Architecturally, some houses are very small at the front and large and expansive at the rear. This would make the “front” wherever the large, open, and expansive side or view is.

Again, this is uncommon, but it does affect what is considered the front or facing direction. So, look at your house to determine the most “yang side” when you are trying to determine where the front door is on your house. Use the door intended by the architect
More common, is the broad expanse and open front of a house that is positioned facing the street. The door also normally faces the street. This is the most typical situation and it remains the standard arrangement for most houses — and it’s the door intended as the front door by the architect. It is also the place where a delivery person will go if they’ve never been to your house. Now that we have that established, let’s talk about why the “real” front door is so important.

The front door to the house is the doorway of energy. Because it faces the street (a conduit for water), this is an opportunity for wealth energy to enter the house. Therefore, every time you enter your home through the front door, you will be activating the entryway and creating an opportunity for wealth to enter your house.

The front door is also a location of opportunity…and we all know that opportunities often bring greater wealth (raises, increased salaries, windfalls) with them. Also, a house that never has the front door opened is a house that’s low in energy — and that impacts wealth. Because the street is usually in front of the house (which means “water” is at the front), opening the door allows water energy to enter in the front of the house — the ideal location for water in feng shui.

Enter through a side door and watch money slip from your hands
Many people frequently ask if they no longer use the front door and enter the house from the side, or a kitchen door, or a garage door, should they consider that as their “front door”? The answer: absolutely NOT. I will usually ask that person if they are experiencing financial difficulties. In fact, most all have severe financial problems. Use the front door if you would like those problems to lessen.

Enter through the laundry room, kitchen, etc. and see your finances suffer
If you enter the house through a laundry room, you are watching your money go down the drain symbolically, with bills larger than you expected. If you enter through the kitchen, you’ll literally “burn through the cash” with one expense cropping up after another — and it could cause you to gain weight if the kitchen is the first thing you see when you enter the house.

Still, knowing that the front door is so important to enter, many people still insist on using a back door or side door out of convenience. If you are entering through a garage or kitchen or other service room or porch, you are harming your opportunities for more money to come to you. In light of that, isn’t it a good idea to use the front door?

After all, we create beautiful entry areas and if they’re only used by solicitors, delivery people, or the occasional visitor, you’re wasting an opportunity to bring more energy — and more wealth — into your home. You might also find that opportunities suddenly appear when you begin using your front door. Why use your front door and beautiful foyer only for a delivery person, mailman, or visitors? After all, you are the most important person to enter your house. So treat yourself as good — or better — than anyone else by using the front door every day.

Feng Shui First Aid for Your Career

Enhancing careers with feng shui is a popular subject in feng shui. Second to generating wealth, energizing the career sector ranks high in interest among those interested in using feng shui to better their lives.

It makes sense due to the amount of time we spend at our jobs. It also is understandable because to have a successful career enables us to make better decisions for ourselves and our families.

By this, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you simply make more money, because money doesn’t solve all the ills of career problems. Of course, it doesn’t hurt. However, there are plenty of people out there making good salaries but unhappy with their respective careers.

When you energize areas that you would like to improve, it’s possible to open up a range of possibilities. For instance, by energizing your career sector, your job may suddenly become better, or something new and better will be coming to you that you hadn’t expected at all, such as a business opportunity.

But this is the price of making changes — you get more changes in your life, and therefore, more choices! And, that’s what you usually want in your life: more opportunities and choices to create greater happiness for yourself and your family.

There are two critical areas to enhance if you want to improve your career: your house and your office. Below are ideas for both. However, these are not ALL the possible suggestions; only some of the most basic ones.

STEP ONE: Your Home

6 Key Steps

1. Look north. Make sure the north sector of your home is in good order. If your north sector is missing or if there is a toilet here, activate the north sector of your living room and office.

2. If your bedroom is in the north: This can be enhanced by decorating with blue or black, a picture of water (not overly large, however), and metal (preferably gold-colored) objects.

3. A north-facing home: Make the entrance to your home as attractive as possible to invite new opportunities. Make it neat and easy to come into by removing obstacles, blockages, dying plants, worn out welcome mats, etc.

By the way, DON’T buy welcome mats with your name on it you’ll be walking on your good name! Place an image of a turtle or fish here. Be sure to block any views that go straight through from the front of the house to the back or you’ll be missing opportunities (and losing money!).

4. Look south. Display peacock feathers in the south portion of the home and keep this area well-lit. The south represents recognition. A grouping of nine candles would
be excellent here as well. Consider painting the south room in your house red, orange, or a shade of red.

5. Welcome career opportunities. Keep a light in the entrance to your home turned on. A chandelier with crystal prisms that cast the different colors about the entryway is especially good.

Or, hang a crystal below your light to cast colored prisms about the foyer. These are especially helpful if your stairs face or end close to the front door; good opportunities go right on out the door!

6. Add water to the front of your home. Consider putting in a water fountain (on the left side of the door as you look out of the house) inside the house or outside. (A water feature on the right side of the house invites cheating in the marriage.) If you put in a water feature outside your home, make sure the water appears to be flowing toward the house. This is one of the best ways to bring opportunities to your door.

Step Two: Your Office

8 Key Elements

1. Sit in a power position by facing (but not in direct line with) the door. Don’t sit with your back to the door ever. If your furnishings in your office or cubicle are built in, then turn your computer so that you can see someone coming from either your left or right side.

2. Tap your pa kua number. Face your personal best directions if at all possible, but never ignoring #1 above. Use as many of your personal best directions as possible!

3. Stop gossip. If gossip is a problem in your career, get a statue of a rooster and place it on your desk to look at anyone coming into the office. This will help curb some of the talk in the office.

4. Get support. This is extremely important for a good career and why you should have something solid behind you. If you have a window at your back, you will suffer
from lack of support. Turn so that there is a wall behind you.

Also, make certain that there is not a bookshelf or open cabinets at your back. Place these where they are not in direct line with you or your desk. This also means making sure you don’t have any bookshelves shelves facing you. Move these if you do. Also be certain you don’t have a hallway, stairs, or other entry that is exactly opposite
your desk.

5. Enhance your wealth corner. Place a plant in the SE corner of your office. Get rid of spindly, weak plants. Better to have a pretty silk plant than a real plant that is dying.

6. Be recognized. Trouble getting noticed? Place a lamp in the S corner of your office for more recognition. Also, place red objects, stones, or crystals in this location. The larger the stone, the better. definitely go for heft and girth!

7. Activate your career sector. Place a tortoise in the north corner of your office to symbolize water and support. Or, place a big picture of water here. If you want to go all out, place an aquarium here with eight gold fish and one black gold fish.

8. Get help. It’s the “who you know principle” that you want to engage. So, make sure the NW corner is activated. You want mentors or people to help you, right?

If so, place a rock or geode here, or place metal objects in this location. Stereos and electronics are also good placed in the NW to bring helpful people and mentors to you. Gold, silver, or white objects are good when placed here. Try hanging a 6-rod windchime with hollow rods in this sector.

Auspicious Office Space – 10 Ways to Make Your Office Make YOU Successful!

Career success is one of the key elements to happiness. How so? If you feel stuck in your career, lack the recognition you deserve, or feel unfulfilled in your job, the time you spend at it will drag on for what seems like an eternity. There’s no misery like 9 to 5 misery. That’s why it pays to make the most of your office — so it can pay for you!

Yes, paying attention to your office can pay in rich dividends for your career. You’ll notice that once you make changes, corrections, and enhancements to your office, you’ll feel differently in it and enjoy your time in your office more. What’s more, everyone who comes into your office, or cubicle, will notice what you have done and will be influenced in their thoughts about your space — and that will make them feel differently about you.

Think about it. If you hang up letters of appreciation from customers, certificates, awards, or newspaper clippings of your successes and your coworkers enter your office (or more importantly, your boss!) and they begin to see some of your accomplishments that were unbeknownst to them before, they will see you in a different light. Chances are you will see you in a different light, too — a positive, beneficial, and encouraging one!

So let’s talk about what a successful office that promotes YOUR needs.

An office that promotes the success of its occupant should….

Be alert. Poison arrows and problems areas are handled. For instance, you wouldn’t be sitting with bookshelves at your back (creates backstabbing and gossip), you wouldn’t have the edge of a desk or filing cabinet pointed at you, or have a window or door at your back.

Be clean. Dusty, dirty, and grimy offices collect more negative energy. Take time to regularly straighten and clean your office. Keep garbage cans small so they’re regularly emptied. Wipe off phones and computer keyboards and regularly dust your computer.

Be activated. A dull office makes for a dull career. Your office should be bright (keeps lights on, open windows or blinds), should have life in it (small fish in aquarium, plants, pretty flowers), should have movement (small fan blowing or radio playing), gushes about you (pictures, clippings, certificates, diplomas, newspaper articles, letters of appreciations, pictures of you with celebrities or important people).

10 Ways to Make Your Office Make YOU Successful

1. Sit in the lucky corner. This is the corner diagnonal to the door and facing the door. This has the most energy and luck associated with it! Do your best to put your desk here!

2. Look at water. Put a picture of water in front of you to stimulate wealth, opportunities to grow your career, and advancement! Want more advancement and money? Add a fountain.

3. Keep open space in front of your desk. Keep your desk clear at the front and keep clear open space in front of your desk. Don’t stack files or papers directly in the center of your desk.

4. Have a solid wall at your back. This gives you support — especially from management.

5. Get yourself some recognition. Hang pictures of success, letters of commendation, awards, etc., on the south wall of your office. Hang them in red frames for extra recognition!

6. Get help from important people. A radio, fan, or 6-rod windchime are all perfect ways to get mentors and benefactors in the workplace. Put these enhancements in the Northwest corner of the office and you will have people come to your aid, help you in your career, and give you recognition!

7. Don’t sit near a restroom. Make sure you do not share a wall with a bathroom, sit under a bathroom on the floor above you, see a bathroom from your office, or hear a bathroom (commodes flushing). This will put YOUR career in the toilet!

8. Add pictures of ships. Ships represent good luck coming in and wealth arriving and are especially powerful career enhancers! Place pictures of ships in your office — especially by the door to indicate good luck sailing in. Make sure ships do not look like they are in rough seas.

9. Use the front door. Too many employees enter the building where they work through a rear door. This gives you “rear” treatment. Instead, see yourself as an important person in the company and always enter through the front door of the office. Likewise, enter the front door of your home as well and you will DOUBLE your career luck and opportunities!

10. Wear your career colors! Lucky colors are selected by personal feng shui especially if you are interviewing for a new job or attending an important business event or meeting! Kua number 1 people should wear blue or black colors, kua number 2, 5, or 8 people should wear beige, yellow, taupe, or tan, kua number 3 people should wear brown, kua number 4 people should wear green, and kua 6 and 7 people should wear white, pearl, or off-white, and kua number 9 people should wear red. Start Fresh with Feng Shui – Removing Blocks to Successful Living

Feng shui is all about energy: the flow of it, the lack of it, the harmonizing of it, and the cultivation of positive, beneficial energy. When your life is stagnant or bountiful, smooth or bumpy, you can bet there is some cause and that you are living the “effect.” That is the best news there is about feng shui, is that, yes, there is something that can be done about some of the dilemmas you may be facing.

And that’s what drew me to feng shui: there is hope and a remedy for many of life’s annoyances.So, how can you move ahead and get past some of the problems of the past? It will take effort, but if you truly want to get a head and have some beneficial change, you won’t mind because the payoff is more than worth the effort. The checklist below outlines the steps you should take to get energy moving for you in your home — and your life.

Do things symbolically. When you clean house before New Year’s Eve, for example, you are symbollically starting fresh and new for the new year. This is just one example of doing things in a symbolic way. Think of things you can do to create a symbolism in your life. I give boxes of oranges to my customers because these symbolize gold! Consider buying new artwork in your house that inspires and uplifts you and is symbolic of something you aspire to!

Start new. This change can be a new, positive tradition that you do for yourself at the start of each new year such as buying a new wallet or purse. This is my own personal tradition. I buy a new wallet, checkbook cover, and purse — all red! And, yes, red wallets REALLY DO work!

Let good energy take root. Plants are a wonderful New Year tradition. If possible, plant something outdoors, such as bulbs or a tree to get the New Year off to a healthy, vigorous and symbolic start. If that’s not possible, purchase a new, lush and healthy indoor plant for the New Year.

Pick a corner of the house to refresh and renew. Plan on doing some renovations to your home to keep the energy of the area fresh and vibrant. Plan some new curtains, wall color, etc., for this area — or do it in the yard — just make a plan to invigorate your home.

Choose one room to streamline and de-clutter. Resist trying to tackle the whole house. Get a friend or a family member and bring in a box and a trash can. Throw as many items in the box to donate to charity or in the trash can to throw away that you can. If you still feel motivated try another room in the house.

Diagram your house. With some graph paper in hand, set about diagraming your entire house. Next, draw nine equal squares over the house. Each square or sector corresponds to a direction (north, south, etc.). Draw the North-South line on the diagram to locate the north and south sectors. Then, check the front door to determine its facing direction (looking out of the house toward the street); it should be the same as the house.

If your house faces one way and the door faces another, remember to determine the facing direction by the most open area on your house (link takes you to the last issue on “facing direction”). This can be a large picture window, a wide veranda, or the area with the best view of a lake, a river, the ocean, or a major scene, such a view of the city.

Welcome opportunities to your house. The front of the house is where opportunities originate. If the front of your house needs help, then chances are you might be feeling stuck or without options in your life. For those of you in trailers or manufactured homes, be sure that steps leading up to your house are closed and that the risers are not open otherwise you will be losing valuable opportunities. Now, if your front door faces E, SE, or North, paint it BLACK. If it faces SW, South, or NE paint it RED. If your door faces west or NW, paint your door GOLD (ochre) or PURPLE with silver hardware. The door is your pathway to opportunity…make it a beautiful path!

Locate afflicted areas and handle them. You MUST know where the afflictions are in your home each year so that you do not create more problems for yourself and so you can be forearmed. Be sure to stand at the center of your home and determine where each of the afflictions are — I have given you compass readings for each. This is the best way to determine EXACTLY where they are.
