Beds are one of the most energetically-packed pieces of furniture in our homes. We sleep in them every night, having dreams both sweet and worrisome. Our sick days are often spent in bed, and of course, our closest, most intimate relationship is spent — and symbolized — by a bed. Over time, those soft sheets, comforters, pillows and mattresses absorb a lot of emotion.

No one lives in a vacuum, and that means we change from year to year. One of the critical components of classical Chinese feng shui is the understanding that feng shui also changes from year to year. That’s why one year is great and the next might tank. It’s one of the reasons many people follow and practice classical Chinese feng shui — it helps them to understand why things change from year to year and why things happen in their lives the way they do.
Rolling 7’s on a craps table in Las Vegas has always been considered lucky, but that’s where that luck ends. In feng shui, the number seven is considered very unlucky and full of misfortune. Worse yet, it can cause theft, violence and injury. From 1984 to 2003, the number seven was extremely lucky, but that changed in 2004, when we entered Period 8, a time that runs from 2004-2024. If you count seven as a lucky number, be sure to look at its implications in feng shui.
The command position is often referred to in feng shui to explain the positioning of a bed or desk, and even then, it’s usually the bedroom. What it means is that the bed or desk is placed on a wall opposite the entrance or door to the room, and that from this position you have the widest view of the room.
In feng shui, the eight corners of luck are related to the different directions and corners of your home. In all, there are eight types of aspirations – those things that make our life enjoyable. Aspirations such as love, health, happy families, opportunities and income all make up a happy, satisfying life. The aspirations are each tied to a different direction, such as north or southeast or west. These can be seen on the feng shui “bagua” or map.
Please note that the following evaluation is based solely on feng shui and not my personal opinion. In November 2016, Americans will go to the polls and elect a new president. Although for some folks, a feng shui prediction on the likelihood of either Trump or Clinton being elected is akin to reading tea leaves, it’s nonetheless a fun way to look at the two candidates running for the top job in the country and see how each fares energetically.
