There are numbers in feng shui that are regarded as the most favorable for luck and wealth. That’s because when the numbers 1, 4, 6, or 8 (and sometimes 9) — represented by the qualities of success, promotion, attainment, love, travel, and prosperity — show up in your home either as a natal, annual, or monthly energy, good fortune comes your way.
Let’s start with the number that is the most favored of all, the number 8.
The 8 star is related to the northeast corner of education, wisdom, and good decisions and is an earth star. Until February 2024, the number eight also relates to both water and earth, and because of this can bring much prosperity and success in two realms: relationships and wealth.
The 8 star brings opportunities to create more prosperity and wealth.
Job and career success are a bonus of the 8 star and when the annual movements put the 8 star at your front door or in your bedroom, this can rain down financial benefits.
It’s also fortunate if your living room, bedroom, or office is located wherever the 8 star flies.
This star brings wonderful success when this sector is brightly lit and activated with yang energy like candles, red colors, crystals, and filled with activity.
Where is the 8 star located?
In 2022, the eight star is in its home location of the northeast. This brings benefits from education, learning, writing, certifications, and taking exams.
In 2023, the 8 star moves to the south corner and will bring financial benefits and opportunities through networking, social connections, and friends.
Each year I write a feng shui forecast and note the position of the 8 star for each month, and having that information will help you make the most of the energy when it falls in favorable locations such as your front door, bedroom, home office, living room, or dining room.
When a fortune star falls in a kitchen, bathroom, or garage, the beneficial effects are unable to be utilized fully.
How do I activate the 8 star?
If your front door is located in the direction that the 8 star is located for the year or the month, you’ll want to activate it with earth-related and yellow-colored items.
Adding vases in the location of the 8 star will help you to “collect and store” the excellent energy here to bring about business and personal wealth and success.
A terrific way to add and collect this awesome wealth and opportunity energy is with an arrangement of vases. Vases that are shaped like a calabash gourd or have a figure 8 shape are the most auspicious.
Other activators are crystals, lighting, conch shells, and red-colored items. A mystic knot or figure eight is another way to magnify the eight’s energies.
Images of stones, mountains, deserts, and maps or educational institutions will also help to promote the beneficial qualities of the 8 star.
To give the 8 star the most energy, try an arrangement of nine objects as the number 9 relates to the fire element, the element that creates earth, the element of the 8 star.
Because this is a star of good fortune, make sure you spend plenty of time here and that you keep it brightly lit and activated.
If you have a bathroom, garage or other unfortunate room located here, be sure to add something red and bright, such as a lamp with a red shade to the corner of your living room that corresponds to the position of the eight star. In 2022, that position would be the northeast corner.
You can also activate the eight star by hanging some red-colored artwork here or images of birds or horses. Red candles, red lamps or red cushions added here are also nice additions that fire up the 8 star and manifest its best energies.
The other side of the golden coin
Although the eight star is considered to be very favorable, every star has a dark side, just like every afflicted energy has a positive. For the 8 star, the energy can be difficult for children. Most often, the difficulties it brings is the potential for injuries or illness to children.
Do watch over your children carefully if they’re involved in rough sports, or if their bedroom is in the sector where the eight star is visiting to guard against accidents or sickness.
